I Grew up in Milford PA near Port Jervis NY on the former Erie railroad. My grandfather owned a used car business there near the tracks. He was a Port Jervis native and alot of his friends were retired and a few were still active railroaders. They would come into his shop while I would be there wearing my engineers hat and give me pieces of railroadiana from the Erie or Erie Lackawanna from keys to timetables knowing I loved the trains. This started at age 4 and kept right on going and I can remember that like it was yesterday and it just grew and grew on me. Later as I got my driver's license I started to go to antique stores, flea markets, yard sales, train shows where I eventually would meet Phil Simms at age 16. Phil lived not far from me and taught me so much about the hobby. I would later join the Ontario & Western Railway Historical Society where I met more collectors and started going to shows like KL&L and Gaithersburg. The rest is history.
