Contribute to the Archive

The Railroad Collector is a permanent home for railroadiana — and for the knowledge of the collectors and historians who lived this material. Every contribution makes it harder for that knowledge to be lost.

If you have

One or a few items

You have a single switch key, padlock, lantern, or other piece you'd like documented in the archive. Use the dedicated submission form for that type. The whole process takes a few minutes.

If you have

Research or expertise

You've written about a railroad, manufacturer, era, or specific type of railroadiana — or you have expertise you'd like to share. Articles live alongside the catalog and get linked from the items they discuss.

What we promise

  • The archive is permanent. Content you contribute stays public, free to browse, and properly attributed indefinitely.
  • You keep the items. Contributing to the archive means documenting your collection — it doesn't mean donating it. We never ask for the physical objects.
  • Attribution is real. Items contributed in memory of a collector are credited to that person on every page they appear. Their identity in the hobby is preserved alongside their material.
  • No commercial use of your photos. Photos you submit are used to display your items in the archive. They aren't sold, licensed, or used for advertising.
  • You can withdraw. If you ever want material removed, email us and we'll remove it.
